Rutilated quartz is a form of quartz that is characterised by the presence of 'needles' or strands of rutile (mineral made from titanium oxide) within the structure of the quartz. It is formed when Rutile inclusions grow within the Quartz crystal during its formation process. The hot magma from volcanic activity cools gradually, creating cracks and fissures. Silica and other minerals fill these voids and solidify into quartz, while the presence of titanium oxide leads to the formation of Rutile inclusions.
